Poetry 2006

Every night the dog lies down
while the buttermilk struts
and the foliage drowns

once in a while the sky takes notice
and my hearing fails

every day the child engineers
and coffee attacks the dust bunny
while the wind burns a hole

bitter ketchup and flying pie
the corpse told her story through maggot feces

every morning I lie on a flat stomach
and dream of my favorite hair
while learning the touch of sensuous cacti

a rabbit slithers through the trees
and an angel takes my textbook

october 30th

and the carnal nature consumes
self control certainly wanes
I cannot run away

the worst part in all facets
is where I have no ability
when my desires exceed my needs

a cold dark night
I run and I punch
but it isn’t enough strength.
