A poem from the rain

The kids are cared for
dishes done
lights off
while the rain plinks
pops and spats
light in the mist

The cats
in the windows
dreamy and stubborn
we watch together
purr with nature

Heavy eyelids
a sore back
pruney fingertips
It’s time for bed, honey.
